What is Equine Massage?
Equine massage is a hands on treatment for horses that involves manipulating the soft tissues such as the muscles, ligaments, tendons and fascia to:

Enhance muscle tone

Increase the horse's range of movement

Reduce inflammation and swelling in the joints, thereby relieving pain

Promote healing by increasing the flow of nutrients to the muscles

During a treatment I will use various massage strokes to treat what I find whilst working on each individual horse. I also have several tools that I may use wherever needed.
I WILL ALSO BE OFFERING KINESIOLOGY TAPING AS PART OF MY TREATMENTS FROM THE END OF SEPTEMBER.

First appointment - 1.5 - 2 hours
I will observe your horse moving in different gaits, looking at their conformation and freedom of movement. Following this initial assessment I will proceed with a massage treatment tailored to the horse's needs.

Maintenance massage/follow-up massage/rehabilitation massage - roughly an hour but can take longer as I will work on the horse until I am satisfied that they have received the maximum benefit from the session

Pre/post event massage
Pre event - to loosen, warm and ready the muscles for the event. This can be done the day before or morning before your event.
Post event - to relieve muscle pain and stiffness by returning the muscles to a normal state faster than if left untreated. Can be done after the event or the next day.

Please note that there is NO CHARGE for travel within 10 miles of Pembrey, however there may be travel costs if I am travelling further than this to treat one horse.

Tailored Massage Therapy for Horses
My story...
My name is Adele Evans and I have now made my dream a reality by becoming an Equine Sports Massage Therapist.

I come from a non-horsey family, but have been drawn to the beauty and magic of horses from a very early age. After nagging for a horse throughout my childhood, I finally had my own horse at the age of 16. I lost Tilly after 18 years together, and also sadly lost my Welsh cob Taffy very shortly after.
Losing both of these very special horses furthered my interest in healing using complementary therapies including reiki, herbs and homeopathy. I went on to train as a reiki practitioner, using a form of energy healing to help both humans and horses.

My current horse, a Welsh cob mare named Star, (who has been the inspiration for the name of my massage business) has had various physical issues, leading me to continue on my journey to furthering my skills and knowledge to study as an Equine Sports Massage Therapist. I can now utilise these skills to not only help her, but to help many more horses lead happy and healthy lives.
