Terms & Conditions - Please read
I am a fully insured and qualified Equine Sports Massage Therapist and will always provide a professional service with the horse and owner's best interests at the heart of what I do.
This means I cannot and will NOT legally, ethically or morally, ever provide a 'diagnosis' for a horse that looks unwell, unsound or otherwise as I am not a vet. If necessary, I will recommend that the owner contact their vet to arrange a visit to the horse in question if conditions are found that are outside my professional field. The Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 (VSA) stipulates that only vets are allowed to diagnose an injury and give advice based on the diagnosis.
Do you need to call your vet prior to your horse's appointment?
If it is a maintenance massage and your horse is in good health, then you do not have to notify your vet of the appointment. However, I will need to be informed of the veterinary practice where your horse is registered as part of my record keeping.
If your horse is currently under veterinary care, then within my duty of care to the horse and owner and to adhere to the current legislation, I will require you to contact your vet before I will begin treating the horse as part of their rehabilitation. This is a legal requirement as per the BEVA (British Equine Veterinary Association) guidelines.
Thank you.
